Hibachi in Tarpon Springs

When it comes to hibachi in and around Tarpon Springs, there are two options: Kobe and Hibachi Express (Hiro's has recently closed).

1. Kobe Japanese Steakhouse: 28775 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater, FL 33761

In this area (West-Central Florida) Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is the most popular Japanese steakhouse because it has the most locations. They have a rewards program, so you get a lot off of your meal around your birthday if you're a member. A lot of my family members go here for every single birthday because of that program. They have late night happy hour, which I have partaken in before. You can get a reservation (and you probably should). The downside here is that you can easily spend $100 on dinner for two, and it's a bit of a drive from Tarpon Springs (~20 minutes). Here is a picture of our friend, Jeff, from the last time we went in March:

2. Hibachi Express: 41260 US Hwy 19 N, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689

Aric and I discovered Hibachi Express this week, even though it opened 3 months ago. You lose the "dinner and a show" thing that Japanese steakhouses have going for them, but you are rewarded in your wallet. A meal that would cost around $30 at a traditional Japanese steakhouse is $12.75 here, and it's just as good! It's basically quick service hibachi, meaning you have to fill you own drinks up, etc., but it's worth the trade off to us. Pro tip: bring your own silverware so you don't have to use their flimsy plastic ones. Here are the pictures from last night:
